latest release actually worth attention

Has anyone else run into this?

I'm trying to decide whether to keep the current stack or change course. Main question is how people here are handling structured output.

If you've tested something similar, what did you keep and what did you stop bothering with?

This is mostly for local work rather than public serving.

I tested this tonight. On M3 Max with vLLM, I saw basically the same behavior. I expected the model choice to matter more than it did.

That matches what I was seeing. The pattern around workstation thermals has been pretty similar for me. I got better results once I stopped chasing one metric and just looked at whether the workflow felt usable.

Interesting, I hadn't tried that. I ended up in about the same place using LM Studio.

What worked for me was pretty simple. Start by verifying the driver/runtime combo, then test with a smaller prompt, then look at small local stacks.

What worked for me was pretty simple. On GB200, the easiest win is often to back off the aggressive settings and see whether the problem survives.

Ran a quick check on my box. The issue went away once I changed one setting and restarted the stack cleanly.

My first guess would be this: On dual 3090, the easiest win is often to back off the aggressive settings and see whether the problem survives. A lot of these threads end up being one bad config plus a pile of conclusions drawn from it.

There are a few different conversations hiding inside this thread, so being explicit about the goal helps.

Did a small comparison this afternoon. I couldn't reproduce the slowdown until I pushed context much higher. The main thing that moved was latency, not quality.

I'd approach it in a boring order. Start by verifying the driver/runtime combo, then test with a smaller prompt, then look at consumer GPUs. Once you know the plain path works, then add the faster path back in piece by piece.
