CUDA update broke my throughput with TensorRT-LLM
#1
I figured I'd ask here before changing everything.

I'm trying to decide whether to keep the current stack or change course. Main question is how people here are handling continuous batching.

If you've tested something similar, what did you keep and what did you stop bothering with?

For context, I'm not chasing leaderboard numbers. I mostly want the system to feel consistent day to day.

Can you fill in a bit more context? Are you testing this on mini PC or something else?
Mostly CUDA, sometimes wrong, usually measured

worth checking the driver first.
still benchmarking everything

What worked for me was pretty simple. Start by verifying the driver/runtime combo, then test with a smaller prompt, then look at KV cache pressure. Once you know the plain path works, then add the faster path back in piece by piece.
small models can still be good

Ran a quick check on my box. The issue went away once I changed one setting and restarted the stack cleanly. The surprise was that memory pressure showed up before throughput collapsed.

same here on my side.

I don't think that's the whole story. I get why that seems right, but on A6000 the bottleneck felt elsewhere. Worth testing the simpler explanation before adopting the more interesting one.

What worked for me was pretty simple. If you're on vLLM, I'd confirm the version first and then reduce variables until the behavior is obvious.

I don't think that's the whole story. I wouldn't optimize around that first. On my side the bigger swing came from the runtime and not the model. Could be a workload difference, but I wouldn't generalize too fast from one setup.
