Spent some time on this today and wanted to compare notes.
Two paths both seem viable, but they break down differently once workstation thermals becomes important.
Interested in tradeoffs more than fan loyalty.
For context, I'm not chasing leaderboard numbers. I mostly want the system to feel consistent day to day.

My first guess would be this: On mini PC, the easiest win is often to back off the aggressive settings and see whether the problem survives. Not glamorous advice, but repeatable baselines save a lot of time.
I'm happy to test one more variant if you want a second data point.

Thanks, that helps. I don't think your conclusion is far off. I keep promising myself this is the last rebuild.

Thanks, that helps. That matches what I saw on mini PC. Worth rechecking your defaults though, because one bad assumption can make the rest of the thread look confusing.

Thanks, that helps. The pattern around batch size has been pretty similar for me.

What exact setup are you running? What model, what runtime, and roughly what context size?

Not sure I agree there. The reported numbers can look compelling, but in ordinary usage I didn't see the same benefit. Could be a workload difference, but I wouldn't generalize too fast from one setup.

Good point. The pattern around tail latency has been pretty similar for me. I got better results once I stopped chasing one metric and just looked at whether the workflow felt usable.
