Posting this in case it saves someone else a little time.
I'm helping a small team set up a local workflow. We don't need a giant stack, but we do care about INT4.
Simple and boring is a valid answer.
For context, I'm not chasing leaderboard numbers. I mostly want the system to feel consistent day to day.

I think the bottleneck is somewhere else. I wouldn't optimize around that first. On my side the bigger swing came from the runtime and not the model. Could be a workload difference, but I wouldn't generalize too fast from one setup.

I'd approach it in a boring order. Start by verifying the driver/runtime combo, then test with a smaller prompt, then look at consumer GPUs.

Not sure I agree there. I get why that seems right, but on 7900 XTX the bottleneck felt elsewhere. Not saying you're wrong, just that I wouldn't lock that in as the lesson yet.

Ran a quick check on my box. I couldn't reproduce the slowdown until I pushed context much higher. The main thing that moved was latency, not quality.

Tried to reproduce it just now. I couldn't reproduce the slowdown until I pushed context much higher. The surprise was that memory pressure showed up before throughput collapsed.
