first LoRA that actually helped - cudascope - 09-15-2026 Did a bit of testing and thought I'd post the result here. After a few runs on mini PC, I ended up with decent performance, but the setup only really made sense once I adjusted around reranking. Curious if anyone else landed in the same place. Re: first LoRA that actually helped - vrambandit - 09-15-2026 Appreciate the detail. I ended up in about the same place using LM Studio. Worth rechecking your defaults though, because one bad assumption can make the rest of the thread look confusing. I keep promising myself this is the last rebuild. Re: first LoRA that actually helped - localtinker - 09-15-2026 A couple things I'd check first. Start by verifying the driver/runtime combo, then test with a smaller prompt, then look at structured output. Not glamorous advice, but repeatable baselines save a lot of time. Re: first LoRA that actually helped - benchplease - 09-15-2026 What exact setup are you running? Are you testing this on Threadripper box or something else? Re: first LoRA that actually helped - batchpeak - 09-18-2026 subscribed, curious where this lands. Re: first LoRA that actually helped - quiethouse - 09-20-2026 Maybe, but I had the opposite result. I've seen people blame speculative decoding when the real issue was much more mundane. Could be a workload difference, but I wouldn't generalize too fast from one setup. Re: first LoRA that actually helped - routearch - 09-20-2026 Tried to reproduce it just now. My result was mixed: first run looked bad, second run looked normal. The main thing that moved was latency, not quality. Re: first LoRA that actually helped - benchplease - 09-21-2026 subscribed, curious where this lands. |
